FNWF Results, OPAM and More

Thread and hoop in hand, I started stitching this fellow Friday night. Slow and steady ... I need better lighting.  Thank you to Cheryll for hosting and friends for keeping company.

FNWF

I've spent some time lately in my sewing room (should read - spare bedroom), going through piles of stuff and trying to sort out some things. I decided it was time to use some fabrics that I'd purchased ??? with certain projects in mind. First up were some pillow cases for the grandsons and niece. Next some sock savers for DDIL with more cut out ready to sew.

OPAM

A UFO runner is next on the list followed by a bag that's been in the waiting for ??? a few years.

I also have 2 .... yes 2! ... finished quilt tops to share.  The first is the Murder Mystery Quilt 2021.

My 2nd top is a very belated quilt for my DD ... pattern and fabrics chosen by her. Now for the quilting.

Mum is coming to visit for a few days and we're off to my local patchwork group tomorrow. Looking forward to catching up with the ladies as I haven't made it in this year.

I'm off for a quick visit myself around some blogs to see what others were doing Friday night.

Heating Up

This is what I've been trying to do today.

Everything was heating up ... me ... the sewing machine and the weather ... 37.4 C in the dining room where I was quilting.  Best part is I'm nearly finished, just one border to ditch stitch between the squares and then I can attach the binding.

This next picture shows what the sky has been like all day. Lots of smoke haze from fires in nearby areas.

Looking forward to a slightly cooler day forcast for tomorrow.

Srambled Thoughts

So much to do ... so little time ... sew little time.  Here's a quick catch-up of what I can remember since last Friday ... I think :)

FNSI ~ Some delish balls of wool arrived in Friday's mail so I started straight away on a ruffle scarf for my sweet daughter. Finished it off Monday night and posted it yesterday.

Also on Friday night I packed my bag, sewing maching, etc for a 2 day workshop in Gayndah.

We had a fantastic time making lovely new friendships, learning new techniques and helpful hints and I managed to come close to finishing the 12 centre blocks for my quilt. (10 complete plus 1 side border)

Must dash ... the next load of washing is ready to hang.  My unread blog count is climbing sky high but I know I will find time eventually to catch up with what everyone has been creating.

Happy Sewing

UFO Thursday ... Bumps in the Road

There is no shortage of UFO's at my place ... just the time and inspiration to work on them. This top was a stack and wack I pieced 5 years ago and it was about time I got to the quilting. My first quilt loaded on the frame and ready to go but .... here's the first bump in the road.

When I'm quilting there is a little bump somewhere in the track and my quilting goes crooked. Needless to say there has been some un-sewing happening so I need to find that bump. Sandy hosts UFO Thursday over at Cookies and Cream Craft so pop over, say hi and see what else is happening this Thursday.

Here is the second bump in the road. On my way to patchwork yesterday morning this is what I found ... heavy enough but I managed to drag it off the road.

Some more hexie flowers blossomed yesterday but I can't show them just yet. I've added some October Christmas Items to the page above also ... you might like to check out what everyone has been creating. Now back to that quilting.

Ready For Wrapping

Not only have I finished the towel for my niece but her birthday isn't till Saturday so I'm ahead for once. She took some scraps of this horse fabric home with her last time, so I saved some and have appliqued it to this white towel. Her mum is hoping it will become her new comforter (in time) as the old one is a mere scrap of it's former self.

I've also finished a mug mat for FIL using some gardening fabric from my very first quilt.

This pinky one just needs the binding hand sewn on the back, and of the remaining four, three are quilted and awaiting bindings. Somehow I didn't cut enough batting so the last one is waiting patiently.

Here is my Rainbow Wall Hanging WIP which I managed to do some free motion quilting on at our patchwork group last Friday. I'm very happy with the way this daisy chain has turned out and the flame quilting was done a while back. I've also shadow quilted around the applique. (Click on the photos to see the quilting)

Now I have a dilemma for which I would love to here your opinions. My original plan was to have the chain of orange and plum blocks run horizontal - first picture - hence the flame quilting. But on Friday I accidently held it the other way - second picture - and now I like both.
I'm very new to machine quilting so other ideas on quilting the remaining sections would be very helpful also.
Wow, hope this isn't too long winded and thankyou if you're still here. For a treat, pop over and visit Jo Jo at Home Sweet Home, she's having a giveaway.
Edited 28 May: Sorry, I've fixed up the link to Jo Jo's now.
