August Finishes

This little wall hanging had the last yo-yo stitched in place about 4 hours ago ... just in time for August OPAM. Ruth Buchanan had it published in AP & Q in October 2008 so it's ONLY taken me almost 3 years to make one for myself. :)

Thankyou to the lovely OPAM gals, Peg and Kris for keeping me inspired to have atleast one finish each month.

Sometime last week I managed to stitch the 'ee' block for the Home Sweet Home BOM being hosted by Paula at Quilt Happy, Quilt Often.

Happy Spring for tomorrow.

Christmas Update

Photos have been added to the 'One Xmas Item ~ August' page.

Please take a moment to view all the lovely goodies the sewing elves have been making and follow the links to visit their own blogs too.

Not counting December, we have 3 months to go ladies. Thankyou so much for joining in our quest to have less stress this Christmas. I have seen lots of gorgeous gifts and/or decorations and have many new ideas.

If I have missed anyone's photos please let me know so that I may add them to our page.

Happy Christmas Sewing

Eeeeek! It's the 25th

Please excuse me for this month as I have no finish to share. Sewing has had to give way to cattle work although I have managed a little stitchery towards my one Christmas Item.

I'm looking forward to visiting you all next week to see what goodies abound as Christmas creeps every closer. I'll also add you photos and links to the August Xmas Page as soon as I can.

Happy Sewing

Monday's Show and Tell

Saturday I gathered my supplies ready for some serious sewing. You can't see it but my coffee cup is not far away either.

Step 1.  Cut fabric into small pieces.

Step 2.  Sew small pieces back together again.
This is going to be a small wall hanging. Top is sewn together and awaiting quilting before I add some embelisments.

Then because I suffer from a small attention span I moved onto the next project. Last Wednesday I cut these fabrics into 2 3/4" strips.

Over the weekend I finished this rail fence top. The feature fabric is a tropical ocean scene.

I have short deadlines for both projects (less than 1 month) so I hope to soon share some finish photos.

Oh and there is still an acceptable amount of M and M's left in the bowl ... I did ration myself on those.

Finished Ahead of Time

I can't believe that I've actually managed to keep up with the 'Because I Said So' BOM. Here is Month 5 Block 9 all finished and I'm now awaiting the next parcel. Of course we all know how time can run away on us so no guarantee that I will stay ahead of the game but I'll do my best.

I've also finished the stitchery for another Christmas Bon Bon from Hatched and Patched. Hopefully I can get at least 2 made for August's One Xmas Item ... I'm aiming to give one for each of the ladies in my family at Christmas time.

Lastly here are the two hexie flowers which have arrived safe and sound at Kristina's house in USA for the July swap. The August flowers are on their way to Croatia and would you believe I forgot to take a photo of them.

I have BIG sewing plans for today .... May you find time for sewing this weekend.

Fun Swaps and a Mystery

There is always something wonderful happening in blogland.
Here are just a couple of links that you might like to follow up on.
Click on the pictures to be visit each blog.

I have taken part in both swaps in the past and thoroughly enjoyed making new friendships along the way. Myra hosts a PhD Challenge (currently closed) of which I've completed 3 out of 5 so far.

Enjoy your visits :)

UFO Thursday

I totally forgot that yesterday was UFO Thursday ... oops!  I was busy running around town between appointments and had to wait for a freight train crossing not once but twice in my day.

So without further waffle ... I am very proud to present my Log Cabin Quilt-as-you-Go King Size Quilt.

Commenced in July 2009 this is one UFO that I am over the moon to have finished. I've also checked it off my PhD list only one month late. It's already on the bed keeping us toasty through the winter nights.

No shortage of UFO's to work on next ... deciding which is the first step.

Monday's Show and Tell

Just a couple of little things to share on this fine and cool Monday.

A little bit of sewing this morning to join the 2 1/2" squares to each block. The first is block no. 7 ...

and block no. 8 of 'Because I Said So' BOM.

Block 9 is in progress and then I shall have caught up unless the next package arrives before completion.

These two little July flowers arrived safely in the USA to blossom in Kristina's garden.

If you head over to Sandy's blog you can link to see what other bloggers have shared.
