This little yellow flower is made from 3/4" hexies and is for another pin cushion.
I auditioned some layouts on graph paper and came up with this design. The good thing is that if I go with this layout then I have just the right number of flowers made.
Please ignore the colour layout as I just plonked them down and will have to move them around a bit to even the colour out. I was wondering how a white filler hexie would look but I've always had a green pathway in mind and I do think I prefer the second pic with the green fillers.
This top measures 36" across the widest point and 32" from flat side to flat side. Just right for a small round table.
Happy Gardening
You flowers look great. I do like it with the green as the pathway. i'm thinking mine might be a table topper yet as i doubt i'll ever get a bed quilt done.
ReplyDeleteI like the green but if you have a pale gray purple (do you know what I mean) then I think you should try that as well.

I like this layout with the fillers, whether you use white or green. It's the one I want to use, but I showed my daughters (since one of them will eventually receive my quilt), and they both prefer a complete pathway around all hexagons. Wish I'd never asked. THIS is my favorite layout.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a nice variety of colors among your hexagons.
Gorgeous hexies, but, sorry, I will have to sit on the fence!

Beautiful flowers.I too favor the green background.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers I like the green.but then again any colour would be nice as you have A lot of colours in the flowers.
ReplyDeleteHugs Mary.
beautiful flowers
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, I like the second lay out best.
ReplyDeleteI think the green seems to bring them together better. Pin cushion is nice, and I just love the halloween piccies!
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers on the white background...they stand out more. Well done!
ReplyDeleteLovely hexie! I like both backgrounds, but I think Tineke is right, the white one is standing out more.
ReplyDeleteHappy stitching, Ciscsa
Renata
I like the green, thats a great lay out, have to work on mine in the next few weeks
ReplyDeleteLike the idea of green but maybe a shade or two darker/brighter.
ReplyDeleteLove the layout.
Love and hugs Gina xxx
They look gorgeous all together. I never thought to put them together that way! I like the green background- it looks warmer.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
I'm partial to green.. so I'm probably one eyed... but I think it just WoRkS!

What a cute little flower. I like the green filler. In my eyes this works best.
ReplyDeleteHappy Gardening to you too.
I love the green background.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so pretty, so colorful, so delicate.
Gina
I like the green background best. Love your black centers!
ReplyDeleteI too love the green background for the fillers Narelle...it makes your flowers pop-out...they are so beautiful...
ReplyDeletegreetings Francien.
I love the flowers, and the black hearts. So special. And I think I like the white, but then again, I like the green too. Oi difficult to choose from.
ReplyDeleteHow fast does a month go by? LOL. I really LOVE the layout and I would go with the green too.
ReplyDeleteI like the green! Good luck with your final decision.
ReplyDeleteLove the layout of your flowers Narelle, but I have to say I prefer the white fillers. It seems to showcase your flowers better. I find a few of your flower are getting lost on the green... If white is too white for you, and green is your aim, maybe a very light green would work better... Just my thoughts... 8-)
