Workshop Fun and Friday Night News

Did you join in the Friday Night Sew-in for January? Well it's on again so grab your goodies and have a sewing good time. Click on the logo on my sidebar for more info.

Home again from the best weekend! A patchwork workshop of course!

This is how I packed up Sunday afternoon after two days of lovely company, delicious food and lots of sewing.

I took part in the 'strip insertion' class ... the top left block is complete and the blocks are 10 1/2" square. Hope I can now find the time to finish it off before it slips into the realm of UFO's.

January OPAM

I can only show you this much of my 'Purple Pressie' ... my first finish for January and the OPAM Challenge.

As the name would suggest, it's a present for someone who I know visits here so I'd like to keep it as a surprise for a little while longer.

I've also added another strip to the log cabin blocks yesterday and done some baking this morning.

My sewing frenzy has come to an end as it's back to work tomorrow, however I do hope to be able to share more log cabin progress next week ... that's if you're not getting sick of them yet.

Happy Stitching

Playing in the Pond

Here 'tis ... 'Pond Play' is practially a flimsy. I will add another wide border in a blue but because I've been so long getting around to making it up, I don't have the fabric. Oh well ... put it on my shopping list, lol.

Now I'm off for a cool drink before I become a melted blob in front of the computer.

Change of Colour and a Cute Giveaway

Isn't this little lady just the sweetest? If you visit Cath over at Cathron Country Designs, you could be in with a chance to win a similar young lady of your own.

Yesterday I took a break from the log cabins and worked on another PhD.

Above and below are the 9 patch blocks for my fish pond wall hanging from my 9-Patch Pizzazz book that I bought back in 2008 along with the feature fabric. The blue and red fabric I bought on our shopping trip in January 2009. So you can tell I don't rush into these projects, lol.

Hope to be able to share a pic of the top soon.

Rolling Along

Make hay while the sun shines .... or .... Strike while the iron is hot.

Either proverb describes my sewing at the moment. I'm on a roll and managed to add the second chocolate lattice strip to all 36 blocks yesterday. This may seem a simple job, but I get distracted easily.

I also cut some 2 1/2" strips, stitched them together in 3's and cut them again in 2 1/2" pieces ready to make some 9 patches today for another of my PhD's.

Look who was keeping me company in the sewing room yesterday ... and she's in that same spot already this morning.

Off to do some morning jobs and then back to the sewing machine.

Friday Night Sewing

Thanks to 'Friday Night Sew-In' ... I actually did some sewing last night. Normally I'd think about it and that's all.

I kept working on my King Log Cabin which was looking like the above photo just before Christmas. Then Thursday while good friends were visiting ... the boys went and did boy things and the girls sat sewing. I managed to add the second 'rose fabric' strip to 36 blocks.

Then instead of slacking off Friday Night ... I added the chocolate lattice fabric to all 36 blocks.

Blocks measure 8" x 10" with five more strips to be added to each. Each strip is a stitch closer to my first PhD and eventually an OPAM.
Thankyou Heidi ... I need all the 'gentle push' I can find to keep motivated. Looking forward to seeing how everyone else spent their Friday Night.

Motivational Train

While I'm on the motivation train ... have you read about this?

Kris and Peg are co-ordinating the OPAM 2010 Challenge and I'm lucky enough to be able to take part. Numbers are limited so hurry over if you haven't already.

My PhD's

That would be PhD for Projects Half Done and I have quite a few of those ... surprise, surprise!!

Myra has challenged herself to finish her PhD's and we're invited to keep her company ... sooooo ...

I've set myself 3 projects to finish off by June 30.

In no particular order ~

Quilt-as-you-go Log Cabin for my King Bed (36 blocks - all at this stage)

Fish Pond Wall Hanging (This is how a saw it last - top half)

Wonky Houses Wall Hanging (Sashing strips cut ready)

Of course I have more PhD's but I'm trying to be realistic and any more finishes before the deadline will be a bonus!

Internet Down

Firstly ...

Happy New Year to you all! I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful start to their new year. Ours has been a very much welcome wet start. Atleast 5" since Christmas Day.

I am currently without internet so shall remain quiet for hopefully only a little while longer. Looking forward to catching up with everyone soon!
