Soft Landing?

If your merry-go-round won't slow down enough ... just look for a cosy spot, close your eyes and JUMP!

I managed to land onto my lounge chair in front of the TV (can't remember what I watched) and picked up my knitting needles. Relaxing and not having to think resulted in one finished scarf from my previous bundle of wool purchases.

Love the little baubles on the edge of this one. But wait .... there's more!

This little bundle was found huddling from the cold in my mailbox. Of course I couldn't leave them out there so they also found their way into my wool stash. Yes, more scarves :o)

Finally found a moment after lunch to pin and finish off my 1 Xmas Item for July. Not a huge task but pleased to be able to stay on track so that I can hang my banner come December.

Big thankyou to every-elf for your encouragement and friendship as we cheer each other on each month. Big or small, many or few, each item will make Christmas all the more special.

Happy browsing through the lovely July pics on the 1 Xmas Item page and thankyou for sharing.

Knutty Knitter

Actually I wouldn't be able to knit to save my self but there's something about the cooler months that get my knitting mojo puuuurrrrling away.  Only simple little projects but it's great for relaxing at night in front of the TV and switching off from the day.

Last night I finished off the ball of 'Beetle' (variegated) with a second dish cloth managing to come up with a checkered pattern. Earlier I finished off the ball of pink 'Giggle' and found that by casting on 25 stitches and weighing the ball I could make 3 dust cloths. Look out now dust bunnies :o)

My challenge:  If any new balls of wool should find themselves entering my home, I must knit them up and not let them hide away until 'another year'. Just as well it's only July and there should be some more cooler weather yet, even though lately it's almost like summer some days.

Recent additions to my stash.  I see .... 2 scarves .... 3 colourful dust cloths and more dish cloths. Just can't help myself and I won't mention a little purchase also on it's way.

Not much time lately for fabric play and this weekend needs to be bookwork, yuk!  The 25th is also just around the corner ... hope you've been able to squeeze in some Christmas sewing to share with the 1 Xmas Item Elves.

Happy Creating   >^..^<

Polishing the Sled

Oh what a month! Here it is the 25th already and I haven't posted since the 1st ... have managed to visit a couple of blogs but my unread counter is through the roof.

A little knitting or embroidery at night is all I've had time for this month and luckily I got in early with my 1 Xmas Item.  After knitting both 'Love' and 'Joy' washcloths I thought I could draft one with DD's name and I'm pretty happy with the result. Another for August is also drafted ready and waiting :)

Time once more to visit all my fellow elves' workshops and share their Christmas delights on our 1 Xmas Item page. Hope your stash of goodies is growing and you're looking forward to displaying or giftwrapping when December arrives. Thankyou for joining me in this merry little venture.

It's never too late to make a start so if you haven't had the time yet then perhaps August will be your month.

My other finish early this month was .... another scarf. This particular ball of yarn was purchased last year so does this make it a UFO finish?

I've had a couple of goes trying to get some 2" postage charm squares cut for the next swap ... this is just over half.

Last Wednesday I spent a beautiful day out with 2 lovely friends at a quilt show and these 3 fat 1/4's begged me to buy them.

May the sun shine for you today.

Srambled Thoughts

So much to do ... so little time ... sew little time.  Here's a quick catch-up of what I can remember since last Friday ... I think :)

FNSI ~ Some delish balls of wool arrived in Friday's mail so I started straight away on a ruffle scarf for my sweet daughter. Finished it off Monday night and posted it yesterday.

Also on Friday night I packed my bag, sewing maching, etc for a 2 day workshop in Gayndah.

We had a fantastic time making lovely new friendships, learning new techniques and helpful hints and I managed to come close to finishing the 12 centre blocks for my quilt. (10 complete plus 1 side border)

Must dash ... the next load of washing is ready to hang.  My unread blog count is climbing sky high but I know I will find time eventually to catch up with what everyone has been creating.

Happy Sewing
