Routine Out The Window

So much for keeping a routine with storms in the last few days turning my week upside down. Flooded creeks meant I couldn't get to work and had to change work days around ... hubby also had to change plans.

Still managing a little stitching and sewing and I've finished my second block for Tis The Season. Check out my TTS page for block photos.

After watching all the completed quilts being shared on the Stitch-A-Long blog I decided to make this quilt for myself through 2012. Luckily I came across Susan at Thimble Stitch who along with Anne-Marie and Sam are also stitching TTS during 2012 so I asked if I could tag along. It's always so much nicer to stitch along with friends.

The binding is almost finished on the 'ocean' quilt ... I've made a start on my Xmas item for February ... hoping to have a third TTS block completed or atleast started ... one can only try :)

Don't forget this Friday Night is Sew-In time! Sign up with Heidi and settle in for a sewing good time.

FNSI Results

Managed to get a few stitches done last night for Friday Night Sew-In after a long day in town.  I  almost finished the applique  and did the final little bit this morning. I've just now had a moment to cut the 2 1/2" squares and sew them to complete the block.

Month 9 ~ Block 15 ~ "Because I Said So"

Thankyou so much to Heidi and Bobbi for hosting this wonderful get together on a Friday night.  I do hope there will be more to come in 2012.

Today, Yesterday and the Day Before

Not so sure about the title but I thought I would work backwards with what I've been up to over the last few days.

This morning as I stepped outside with camera in hand I spied this little fellow ... not sure if he even knows which way he's going.

Time to lay out my Inchy Swap Flowers for a garden update and of course there is always help on hand. Think Fleur is claiming this garden for herself?

Yesterday these two pretties arrived from Anette in Denmark ... just perfect for spring. I started out by embroidering names in the centres so I will have to do some catching up with that.

I spent the nicest afternoon yesterday with BF Kerry. We chatted, knitted and enjoyed a movie together. Both of us were working on a scarf and I was able to finish mine off last night. Here my ever faithful model is ready for the camera.

The day before I found a second hand shop in a little town nearby and found these 2 treasures. The sweet little jug has joined the crockery set in the cupboard and I've left the utensils container on the bench for ... you guessed it ... utensils!

Today is also UFO Thursday hosted by Sandy at Cookies and Cream Craft. Although I have plenty of UFO's to choose from I need to 'feel like' tackling those so for now I'll keep working on things with deadlines.

Don't forget this Friday is Friday Night Sew-In ... think I'll either knit or embroider or perhaps a bit of both :o)

FNSI Results + Because I Said So

Wednesday was our groups patchwork day and I managed to get most of this block done with a little finishing off the next day at home. This is block 4 of the 'Because I Said So' BOM and along with block 3 which is almost completed they make up Month 2 of the BOM. Of course I'm behind already as Month 3 came last month and Month 4 arrived last week too. Confused? I think I am :) Oh well ... I'm enjoying it!

I was staying at my parents home Friday night so it was a good opportunity to brush up on my knitting and crochet skills.

First I started knitting a new scarf using 'Ping Pong' wool ... not sure if I'm happy with the effect but that could be to do with my skill level.

Then I moved onto some crochet. I think I'll always be a 'beginner' but once I get going it starts to grow ever so slowly. I must confess that mum did the first 4 rows to see how the colours went together and I've continued on from there ... a future knee rug.

Hope your Friday Night was crafty.

FNSI and Fabric Buys

My results for Friday Night Sew-In. This will be for my One Christmas Item A Month when I get the bon bon made. I'm hoping to stitch another in green.

Before sitting down to stitch I cut into these sweeties and prepped some squares ready for centres for the 1/2" hexie flowers. The cream squares will make pathway hexies.

Lots to do before the end of the month ... I still need to add embelishments to my Stay At Home Robin projects and I am determined to work on a UFO.

Happy Sewing

Friday Nights and Home Sweet Home

Gosh I'm just scraping in for Friday Night Sew-In ... tonight! (in Aus). I've just popped over to Heidi's and signed up so if you're like me and leaving it till the last minute head on over quickly.
Block 3 of 'Home Sweet Home' was posted by Paula on Wednesday my time so I got straight to it and finished the sweet letter 'M'. You can click on the button on my right sidebar to read more about this lovely little BOM.

My blogging, visiting and commenting has been limited by a failing computer ... suppose that means I should be getting more sewing done?

Friday Night Sew-in Results

Can only share a peak of my sewing for FNS.

It's the 3rd round of 'Stitching Round the Block' ... this Wednesday is our groups Patchwork Day where we pass the blocks forward without the 'owner' peaking! I need to get stitching!

Fridays

Two weeks have flown by and today is Colourful Friday ... the colours of Valentine's Day.

Each Colourful Friday, I've decided to challenge myself with posting only one photo. A picture taken by me which I think best depicts the chosen colour or colours. Lucky my rose bush could supply the red bud and of course the chocolate block is a little shorter since taking the photo. :P

You'll find links to more Valentine goodness over at Daisy Quilts.

YYYYYYYYYYYYY

Sign-up is now open for FNS which is happening next Friday the 18th. I popped over here to sign up.
Now to decide what I'll be working on.

Friday Night Sew-in Results

Does anyone else have the same mystery as me? I stitch and stitch with not a lot of progress to share. I did manage to join 2 rows of flowers and started a 3rd row.

I’m not sure if there’s a right or wrong way to go about joining the flowers … this is how I’ve been stitching them.

First I joined two green hexies to each flower … then joined each flower into a vertical row … next I’ll stitch each row together … finishing by adding a row of green hexies around the outside.

I’d love to know any other ways of sewing them together. This top should be approx. 40 inches at the widest. Maybe some more stitches tonight.

Friday Night Sew-in Results

Ages ago I was a lucky winner of Clare's Craftroom and won a pattern for her Catch-it Bag ... big thankyou to Clare. I don't think I blogged about it at the time because I was going to whip one up straight away and then share ... but time got the better of me.

So I decided to make one each for two little girls for Christmas and yesterday I finished this sweet pink bag.
What to work on for Friday Night Sew-In ... the second bag of course.

Sadly ... the weather was hot ... I was hot ... and my machine decided it was hot too ... and several arguments followed with much unpicking and I gave in. So I went and sat in front of the fan and made two each of matching 1" yo-yo's to make hair accessories.

I hadn't seen "The Santa Clause 3" before so I enjoyed watching/listening to it. Hope your Friday Night is productive.

Friday Night Sew-in

Looking forward to tonight ~ it's time for Friday Night Sew-In.

Planning now for a dinner that will almost cook itself with little clean-up afterwards ... "Santa Clause 3" is on TV ... thinking about which craft I will sit down with.

What will you be working on?

Friday Sewing and a Giveaway

Wintery cold weather made a return yesterday so it was nice to rug up last night for Friday Night Sew-In.

My sewing involved these items below and is still a work in progress.

What did or will you work on?

This morning I found my way over to Sarah's where she is sharing some 'From Little Things' in a giveaway.

Head over and say hello ... isn't it sweet?

The Week That Was

Monday and Tuesday ~ work.

Wednesday ~ I managed to squeeze in two flowers this week deciding to try the greens for a change.

This blue flower blossomed last Wednesday.

Thursday ~ off to work again.

Friday ~ was Friday Night Sew-In for July so I kept plodding along with joining my log cabin blocks.

Saturday ~ general run of the mill stuff like housework, washing, tidying etc.

Sunday ~ thought I'd whip up a batch of biscuits ... 11 dozen in all.

The recipe is quite simple and you can make a variety of biscuits. We decided on coffee choc melts, jam drops and coconut cherry but just add whatever your favourite is. Sultanas or choc chips are another of our favourites.
500grams butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 can of condensed milk, 4 1/2 cups Self Raising flour. You may need to add a little more flour depending on your choice of biscuit. Bake till golden and enjoy!

Deliciously Red Friday Night

Last night was Friday Night Sew-In. After a long day in town and a late dinner, I finally managed to sit down with needle and thread in hand.

I was able to complete Block 4 of Red Delicious while watching Nicholas Cage in 'National Treasure'.

How did you spend your Friday Night?

One Flower Wednesday Blossoms Galore

Have you noticed that the month of June will have 5 Wednesdays? Here is a recount of the first 3.

Yesterday was Patchwork Day for our little group and we were extra lucky to have a workshop on fabric flowers. We managed to make one of everything required for a very pretty wallhanging. Now for more flowers, leaves and buds.

Then after watching MasterChef last night, I settled down for the Rugby League State of Origin with needle and thread in hand.

This red hexie flower is for the second Wednesday which I had to finish off on the Thursday.

My purple hexie had a slow start and was actually made on the Saturday but I'm counting it as my one flower for the first Wednesday of June.

While on a flower theme, this is my first Zygo plant to flower this season.

Don't forget this Friday Night is the night ... Friday Night Sew-In.
Will you be sewing?

Friday Night Sewing and an OPAM

Once again I've made some progress on those Log Cabin blocks.

If it wasn't for Heidi and the Friday Night Sew-In, I would have just sat in front of the TV but because it was Friday night, I sat in front of the sewing machine instead. I still had a view of the TV which is just as well with the Olympics on at the moment.

So I now have some of the blocks finished and awaiting trimming. I did say some!
* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Yesterday while having a quick browse in blogland, I found a tutorial for a cute bucket so I struck while the iron was hot, so to speak.

Jenny has made several of these guys from the tutorial she found here.

Now I have an OPAM for the month of February although I won't be stopping at just one of these. DD is taking this one off with her to Uni this week so it's back to the fat 1/4's.
Have a lovely weekend Y
