Not Again!

Sitting safe at home with nowhere to go ... only time will tell when this lot will go down and there is more rain predicted this weekend.

If you click on the photo you might see the flood marker (left side middle) clearer but it's showing 1.7m deep.

I've been adding your '1 Xmas Item' photos as I visit so please, if you don't find your photo on the page by the end of the month, let me know...I don't wish to miss anyone out. Thankyou for sharing your makes as it's great to see all the lovely gifts and decorations.

1 Xmas Item ~ February

It's here!  The 25th of the month that is :)  Time to put on your christmas bells and jingle around the blogs to see who has been making their headstart to a stress free Christmas.  I have already added a couple of early bird photos to the "1 Xmas" page.

Luckily I had the stitching on this one done very early on as the time slipped away on me this month as it seems to have done for quite a few bloggers.  I am loving how the thread is stitching up and enjoyed some chain stitch on the letter.

I may be a little slow making my way around your elf workshops this week so please bare with me.

Happy Christmas Sewing

Pieces of Me

Still here :)  Slowly getting into a routine ... I like to have a routine! Going with the flow is OK for a while but then I crave routine. Not sure when I last left a comment but I've been trying to keep up with my fav blogs ... reading from my Google Reader list. So many beautiful projects happening out there.

5 ladies from our Patchwork group travelled for a workshop last Saturday. We chose a design to start on in the morning and after lunch we were given instructions for the beginnings of a mystery quilt. After sewing some jelly roll strips together, pressing and cutting into 4.5" blocks, the layout was revealed and I'm looking forward to seeing how each of our fabric choices come together.

I leave you with a few photos of the time between now and my last post. With 2 consecutive days home, I have a LOT to catch up on. Firstly getting the house into some sort of order ... bookwork to finish off before it's time to start the next lot ... and there is some sewing planned as well.  Then I'll be back on the 25th with my February 1 Xmas Item (luckily this was finished way early).

During and after the floods ... the road I travel to work.

A little squishy

My blog book for 2012 arrived

Kitty swap blocks arrived

 The garden is blooming

Workshop sewing - before lunch

After lunch - mystery quilt

Now then ... coffee and lamington time :)

Hexie Progress on FNwF

Friday Night with Friends seems like a long time ago now but there hasn't been time or energy to share my hexie making.

Flowers now total 6 and this left me with no more squares cut ready so..........

I'm using a honey bun for the petals as the strips are just the right width and all I do is cut them into squares. The cream is from a solid charm pack.  Enough here now for 18 more flowers.

Through the week I was able to go back to work for a couple of days and the rest of the days have been spent out in the paddocks carrying out fence work. Not much other sewing happening ... can't keep my eyes open long enough at night. I am looking forward to Saturday when a few girls from our patchwork group are attending a workshop so hopefully I'll have some progress to share.

My eyelids are winning again .... goodnight :)

February Already

Update:  11am  -  Thankyou to the guys working tirelessly to return everyone's power ... we are back online.

Update:  No change here at our place although the waters are dropping and just maybe we can get somewhere soon. We've heard that the roads are a mess to say the least so that will have a large bearing on just where and how far we can go. Still waiting on power to be restored also.

This is a little of what I've been doing. The radio is our friend ... the ABC local channel is doing a fantastic job of keeping everyone in the know.

A few hexies, a little bit of embroidery and boiling the kettle for a coffee.

Till the next update ...
