Farewell 2016

My last machine sewing for 2016.

It's a bit hard to see... Curtains hemmed and hung at the kitchen window to cut the afternoon sun scortching in. It was cheaper (and quicker) to buy ready to hang and cut them to length. Bonus is I have just as much left over to make some curtains for smaller windows in the house.

Wishing all a Happy, Healthy and a thread-filled New Year

Twas The Day

Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house ... the sound of a sewing machine ...

Look, its a mouse!  I've been working on a couple of animals for "Little ???'s Farm.

Merry Christmas

New traditions and special memories at this time of year. Grandson J gets to hang his personalised bauble on our Christmas tree.

Pa and Grandson J stop to check out Mr (or Mrs) Emu at the Rockhampton Zoo. We spent a lovely weekend with extended family and SIL's family to celebrate Christmas together.

Then it was time for more baking. Of course I thought I could tackle a Gingerbread House from scratch. It's a little bit wonky or I could call it a Gingerbread Bush Hut. My Santa gather around the wood burner chimney each year ... lucky it's Summertime.

Out to the mailbox and want do I see ... a parcel of goodies especially for me :o) I was super lucky to win a prize for the last Friday Night with Friends hosted by the lovely Cheryll. It's always nice to sit and stitch with friends and these sweet treats were an added bonus. I look forward to many more Friday nights, starting with my new pattern ready for next year. Thank you so much Cheryll xx

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, safe travels and special times with friends and family. May your New Year bring health and happiness with plenty of time for creativity.

A Christmas Scent

Yesterday my kitchen had the 'smell' of Christmas ... Gingerbread!  Icing was a bit rushed and needed a smaller nozzle but it still tastes great!

Just had to try out these animal shapes for Grandson J.

Whipped up a batch of shortbread first.

We had a little visitor last weekend so it was time to hang his bauble on the tree xx

Thinking now that it's time for a coffee and maybe I need to taste test ... again.

Enjoy the Season

FNWF Result

Knitting during a heatwave? It had to be done and another cloth is ready for gifting.

Such a simple pleasure to be once more able to connect with blogland and all my lovely friends and fellow bloggers. So far nbn is delivering the goods :)

Thank you Cheryll for hosting our Friday Night get togethers ... so pleased I could join in  this last one and looking forward to next years.

Still Here and It's FNWFs

Gosh it has been so long, I've missed an entire month. Work, health, internet, blah, blah, blah. Everything gets in the way ... ready to start the new year and soon to welcome a new grandbaby.

Tonight i have some knitting to get finished so I'm joining in with all you lovely friends on this very warm Friday night.

Back tomorrow with an update ... enjoy the evening ✂

Small Wonders

This little pair of booties are ready for little toes.

The first time this bush orchid has flowered.

This is a tick on my wish list. Purchased from the Quilters Angel when we had a rush trip through Toowoomba and hubby kindly made a stop for me at the 'top of the hill'.

I have made a start machine quilting the animal blocks for Little ?s Farm and will try to remember to take some pics tomorrow at our patchwork day.

Happy Sunday

Fingers Crossed

YES!  Fingers crossed that I may just be making some progress with sorting out my internet.  I'm not jumping to conclusions that it's been solved just yet but for tonight I am on and not making a cuppa in between pages loading.

Now let me see if I have any pics to update my minimal crafting.  Nope :(  Will have to transfer some pics from other devices tomorrow and share the cutest little pair of booties I made for grandchild no. 2 due in January.

Good night xx  My poor addled brain needs to reboot.  I'll leave you with this pic taken back when the weather was still cool ... 3 generations heading out to muster ... and no, Millie (little dog with coat) didn't join them.

Hello Goodbye August

Faster than a speeding bullet ... she logs on, blogs and logs out ... that's only if my reception holds for  long enough! It seems to be going backwards.

So here are my two small finishes for August ... 2016 has become my year of the wash cloths.

Good night  xx

FNSI Plus

What began on Friday night continued Saturday and Sunday nights to get Little ?'s Farm to this stage ... slow and steady.

Before cutting sashings I prepared fabric for stitching Michelle's sweet 'Calendar Bears' and Wendy's lovely design.

Thank you      >^..^<

A Finish

A small item but it's a finish for this month.  Another wash cloth for the gift box ... my family members love using them. Now I can link up with Anthea for 'Christmas Through the Year' ... and I have an OPAM ... and a share for 1XmasItemAMonth ... a lot of pressure for one small finish :o)

One day I will have sewing to share ... happy creating.     >^..^<

June Out The Door

As June rushes out the door I'm just scraping in with a couple of finishes to share in between sanding and painting our kitchen and dining room over the school holidays ... lots of prep needed!

The first is a snow white wash cloth to add to a baby shower gift for one of our teachers.

My second finish is a crochet rug for myself.  I purchased the kit through Better Homes and Gardens magazine in April ... so I can finish a project now and then.  Of course I read the pattern wrong and had to adapt the pattern to make it bigger.

Life on Little ???'s Farm has come to a standstill but I at least now have enough different pink fabrics to finish the last 4 animals.

Time to dash and get some dinner on before the natives get restless.  This cold and windy weather does nothing for my internet connection and neither does rainy weather, all of which we've been experiencing off and on so there's not much blog visiting going on either.

Happy Creating     >^..^<

Little Macca Had A ?

Sheep, Bird, Goat and Horse ... little bird needs a wing.

A busy week with travel, farm shopping and catching up with a lovely friend Fiona.  We both look forward to our annual stroll, shop, chat around Farmfest and of course a coffee. Thank you for braving that horrid traffic and making it a great day ... I heard that the next day's traffic was just as full on.  It never hurts to dream either and wouldn't this gorgeous She Shed make a wonderful addition.

Then it was off again to a campdraft/rodeo/show day out with this little birthday boy ... Happy 2nd Birthday gorgeous grandson.

Onward with the next full week of visitors, mustering and off-farm work.

Happy Sunday stitching     >^..^<

Chookshed Party Wrap-up

Put dinner on early to cook itself so I had more time to play with these fun guys at the party.

Still need to source a few bits and pieces of fabrics to suit but I'm happy with how these four have come together so far ... had a lovely time at the party with Chooky and friends. Thank you     >^..^<

Party in the Chookshed

This cyclonic wind is playing havoc with my internet. Good thing I get to stay indoors and party with Chooky and friends to celebrate the Chookshed's 4th birthday.

Friday I was lucky enough to go on a quick shopping trip and made some fabric purchases. Saturday we had a surprise visit from our son and grandson ... pikelets for morning tea. After lunch was fabric playtime with the new purchases and digging through my stash.

Every quilt begins with a first step ... a new "Little ???s Farm" and every farm needs a dog.

Time to start cutting and tracing.  Thank you Chooky for a great party and I hope everyone is having a fun weekend of sewing.

Time Flies

Whether you're having fun or not it would seem ... it would also seem that it's all work and very little play for this little blogger lately. With some knitting at night, I have finished another cloth in the variegated pink "Giggle" ... another for the Christmas gift box.

1 small tick for OPAM, CTTY and 1XmasItem.  The crochet rug is also finished ... just need to weave in all those ends and then add tassels.

One stitch at a time.     >^..^<

OPAM Finish

I do have a small finish to share for April's OPAM ... a knitted jar cover using up some leftover wool.

Still recovering a fortnight later after the yukky throat etc hit ... Dr said "rest" so I've been sitting crocheting :o)

Just a Little Brag Post

Yesterday was our local show and while I spend the day helping out in the office, it's always nice to have a couple of entries in the pavilion ... the more the merrier and we always have an excellent display of flowers, cooking, craft and much more for our little show.

I was lucky enough to catch the judges eye with these two entries.

Needlework Section

Photography Section

I'm afraid there hasn't been a lot of time for anything else much ... I did start another new project, crochet this time (just can't stay focused for long) ... and have been adding a couple of rows each night. It was a kit using 3 strands of no. 8 wool and a 15 mm hook.

The cool change in the weather has been nice but I'm not liking the yukky throat, tickly cough and hot eyes this morning ... I'm off to crochet some more ... the rug is big enough now to keep my knees warm while I work.

Happy Sunday

FNWF Results

Chris Hemsworth kept me company last night while I knitted and stitched with friends for FNWF. Snow White is a lucky lass indeed ;o)

First I was able to finish knitting this so soft cloth in 'Giggle' ... one for the Christmas Gift Box. Love how the variegate has formed a crisscross pattern.

Next onto this Needle Case stitchery which will also be one for the Gift Box.

While Mum was visiting she trialed a pattern from BH&G for a jar cosy.

Thinking some of these would be nice for little gifts and I have plenty of jars.

Thanks Cheryll for hosting another fab Friday ... looking forward to seeing who else was busy last night.

Happy Weekend

Another Week Down and FNWF

Hello April ... do you know it's supposed to be Autumn? Where's the cooler weather!

You'll find me tonight under the fan, watching a little TV,  knitting and perhaps an embroidery stitch or two for a change.  Pop over HERE if you haven't signed up yet for ...

Another busy week with family visiting to help with the muster.  Just love spending time with this little monkey ... who just loves being in the outdoors.

While enjoying some outdoor time with camera in hand I snapped this beauty.

Hoping next week will be a little slower and I will find some time to go blog visiting and just maybe do a little sewing ... who knows?  For now I'm off to reheat leftovers for dinner and settle in for a bit of sewing/knitting With Friends on this Friday Night.
