Yes I'm a little nervous at the moment. I've been playing with my blog ... some tweeking to do yet but this will do for now.

Deliciously Red Friday Night

Last night was Friday Night Sew-In. After a long day in town and a late dinner, I finally managed to sit down with needle and thread in hand.


I was able to complete Block 4 of Red Delicious while watching Nicholas Cage in 'National Treasure'.

One Flower Wednesday Blossoms Galore

Have you noticed that the month of June will have 5 Wednesdays? Here is a recount of the first 3.

Yesterday was Patchwork Day for our little group and we were extra lucky to have a workshop on fabric flowers. We managed to make one of everything required for a very pretty wallhanging. Now for more flowers, leaves and buds.



Then after watching MasterChef last night, I settled down for the Rugby League State of Origin with needle and thread in hand.

This red hexie flower is for the second Wednesday which I had to finish off on the Thursday.

My purple hexie had a slow start and was actually made on the Saturday but I'm counting it as my one flower for the first Wednesday of June.

While on a flower theme, this is my first Zygo plant to flower this season.

Don't forget this Friday Night is the night ... Friday Night Sew-In.

Circle of Friends and My First PhD

Along the blogging path, we are able to make many new and wonderful friendships. Miche'le of By Hoki Quilts is one such blogging friend. Miche'le says "If you too feel that we all belong to a huge circle of friends why not copy this button and post it in your side bar"... so that's what I am doing.

Waaaay back in January, my blogging friend Myra of Tactile Pleasures set the challenge to complete some PhD's by June 30 (Projects Half Done) and I put myself down for 3.

Now with only days to go until the deadline ... I would like to share my first PhD. (the pale blue is the bedspread underneath)


'Pond Play' is now a finished flimsy to be stored away until such time as the quilting bug comes calling. Quickly onto PhD number 2.

My aim is to get all my projects that are laying around in pieces up to being finished tops by year's end.

One Flower Wednesdays

Still 4 hours left of my Wednesday and here I am. State of Origin Rugby League is on the TV but I have my priorities.

My OC got the better of me today so I had to pull out all the 2 1/2" squares and sort them roughly into colour groups. Then I laid out flowers already completed (9 of those); as well as the flower buds (hexies waiting to be made into flowers).


Funny how I thought I had lots of squares and yet when I make all these up, I will only have about 40 flowers plus one hexie of each fabric left over. Of course there is always the rest of my stash to dive into.


As well as sorting, I finished off two flowers that I had started quite a while back. I had sewn the petals to the centre so just needed to stitch between the petals. Which brings me to ask, how do you make your flowers up?

The blue flower at the top is today's NEW flower. Just freshly picked.

I'm really happy with my progress today. How does your garden grow?

One Flower Wednesdays & Feathered Visitors

I think this one among the autumn leaves is my favourite so far.


Lately there has been a lot of evidence (droppings) that a small flock of these guys have made our yard their home. This morning I spotted these two enjoying a green pick outside my window.

A May Finish

They may not be patchworked or quilted but I have been busy sewing.

Thursday I finished the last of the curtains for work. Six pairs or sets of curtains like these. I liked the fabric so much that yesterday I bought some in taupe to make a curtain for our lounge room.

DH lit the wood heater for the first time this morning as the weather is getting quite chilly now. Off to do some ironing ... that always warms things up.
