1 Xmas Item and a No Sew Zone!

Very little thread has passed through my needle this month except for a patch of curtain sewing on Friday with DD.  There's also been a quilt   pieces of fabric pinned to a sheet laying over a bed which last week I managed to pin and sew a few seams of an evening. With family home on the weekend it was carefully folded and put away to give more bed space.  I've tweeked it some since last posting a pic and have take one dark block out, found 2 more main fabric strips and 2 matching solids, shuffled a few squares and made a replacement block ... much more happy with it now.

Early in May I finished off the letter 'S' which should have been for April.

Then made a start on sewing the 'C', 'H' and 'R' flags but missed that goal too. Here they are cut out ready for sewing.

I think it was waaaaayyyyyyy back in April, I finished the last stitch in the binding of the wedding quilt for DS and his new bride. Don't think I shared a final picture. Instead of wrapping I placed it on their bed the next time they visited after the wedding ... SURPRISE! (I used various horsey fabrics as they both love their horses)

I've also been getting some hexie therapy with my 1/2" hexies during lunch time at work. A few petals a day and won't be long till another flower blooms.

Time to go put the kettle on and find my jingle bell slippers as I slowly make my way around all the 1 Xmas Item workshops. Do you think Santa would lend me a couple of reindeer?

Happy Sewing be it a little or a lot     >^..^<

M.I.A.

I hope all the happy little 1 Xmas Item A Month Elves are busy putting their finishing touches to their goodies. Don't worry if you haven't ... we'll be naughty little elves together...hehehehe!

I'm afraid I've been Missing In Action from blogland and my sewing with very little progress happening with any of it but with tiny steps I am inching forward on a couple of things I will soon find a moment to share.

So please share your 1 Xmas Item and I shall pop in when I get a change and add pictures to the page.

More Progres"S"

Excuse me if I seem a little too excited over a bit of thread on fabric :)  This is the most stitching I've done in quite a few weeks.

Hope you're able to add some thread to fabric today.

Musical Beds and FNwF

Not quite like playing 'musical chairs' and requires some muscle :)

Hubby and I have been busy today swapping beds around from room to room. 3 beds and 3 bedrooms all changed around and remade with snuggly flannelette sheets ready for the cold. Of course when moving furniture there is always the 'surprise' found behind things and that dust to clean.

Now I'm looking forward to settling down in front of the TV later with my stitchery in hand and join with Cheryll and friends for some Friday Night fun.

Let's see just how far my letter 'S' can progress?

Unders and Overs

Thankyou so much for all your lovely comments on my last Scrappy Sunday post. I love reading them and prefer to respond to each but alas time got the better of me.

I'm snowed under and overwhelmed by how much time it takes to achieve very little these days. I wake up, get through the day and go to bed so I can do it all over again tomorrow. Nothing special ... just everyday stuff and work and driving about to get there and back ... just life. My tiny little bit of stitching has been for 1 Xmas Item A Month and I didn't even make my own deadline. Never mind because I'm not. Like the Seasons I'm sure it will come round again when I can find some time to sew.
Here is the letter 'I' and 'S' for my Christmas Swag.

I'm slipping into my jingle bell slippers so that I can come visit all the other sewing workshops to see what has been created this month. Please leave your comment here or flick me a pic in an email so that I don't miss anyone. Hope you've been able to achieve atleast a little something to pop away ready for Christmas.

I'm not stressing as I've had a lovely April with all that has been going on.  Easter ... our 26th Wedding Anniversary ... Son's Wedding ... Daughter's Birthday ... local Show ... visit from lovely friends ... Anzac Day and a morning tea for Grandmother's 96th Birthday. Sunday I'm off with the gorgeous patchwork girls to a Quilt Exhibition.

One mail day last week I received 2 parcels. One I knew I had ordered and the other I couldn't think of a reason for it's arrival until I opened to such a wonderful surprise which really made my day. Thankyou so much to Joy for a very special parcel of goodies that I will have lots of fun creating with.

My new kitty addition has been feeling left out so I took him for a stroll outside and snapped him peering through a tuft of grass. He was a birthday gift from Mum and Dad and watches my every move.

Happy Sewing and enjoy some me time today if you can.

Strippy Scrappy Sunday

After laying low all week with a yukky bug that kept my nose running like a tap (and atleast 2 boxes of tissues later) ... I finally felt like playing with some fabric over the weekend.

Yesterday I finished pressing and cutting jellyroll strip pairs into 4.5" squares.  Then today was the fun? part of laying them out and trying to follow the design.  As it was a mystery quilt I'm happy to just go with how it has turned out with the fabric choices made considering  the jelly roll has been in my stash for some years and I still love the colours.

After a late lunch I joined in with Kim's Scrappy Sunday and opened my birthday gift that's been waiting patiently since last month :) I'm planning on giving my scrap shoeboxes a good going through.

When I headed outside to shut the chooks in for the evening I had to dash back inside for the camera to share this beautiful Autumn Sunset.

Happy Sunday

Just Perfect

Take the perfect couple with the perfect company and you get a perfect day.

DS and his beautiful fiancee became Mr and Mrs C on Saturday and we couldn't be more proud. None of us has watched the weather forecast so much as we did this last week and just 2 hours before the ceremony this ...

The groom and is groomsmen taking shelter under the canopy of his vehicle.

Although the black clouds threatened, not another drop fell on their beautiful afternoon and night.

 The happy couple

FNwF and a PhD

A very quick post as today is a very special day for our family :)

This project is what I've been working feverishly on the last week when not doing wedding 'stuff'. With just the handstitching of the binding to finish, it's a case of 'so near and yet so far' from a finish.

Thanks to Cheryl for a Friday night sewing with friends, this PhD will be a done deal next week. Hope you all had or will be having a great Friday night too :)

FNwF in April

Oh my!  April already!  Time to join your friends this Friday night for some sewing so pop over to Cheryll's and join up. I have ... as I'll be busy handstitching the binding onto a very special quilt. All will be revealed very very soon :)
