Short, cold days mean more time for stitching ... I managed to catch up on the tags for May,
Finish 3 more for June,
Trace the last 5 ready for stitching and make a start on number 31. Here are the first 27 tags (including May) all together and with June's 3 tags make a total of 30 completed. Feels great to have some good progress.

FNSI Happened
Guess what? I actually achieved something Friday night .... feels good! Inspired by all the lovely friends having a sew-in, out came the light box and I traced all of the remaining tags for "Ruth's Quilt" ... 8 in all. A little stitching and ...
I need to get all the tags out together and check my tally ... getting close.

If At First You Don't Succeed ... and FNSI
I was all set last Friday night for FNWF but of course we know what can happen to best laid plans .... so as my title says, if at first you don't succeed, try try again. So this Friday night I'm signing up with Wendy for a FNSI.
INSERT HERE (Once again best laid plans ... I wrote this post and was just taking a photo of the finished stitchery when hubby announced we were going driving. So 9 hours later and a long round trip through 4 neighbouring towns to pick up various "farm" parts and pieces, and here I am adding the picture and clicking on PUBLISH)
Pleased to add that I have managed to finish the stitchery I had planned to work on and now need to trace the next one ready for stitching.
So now I need to eat dinner and get tracing. Happy Friday night everyone.

Ready ... get set ... stitch!
I've signed up and have my 'Ruth's Quilt' stitcheries to continue with. This was last Sunday night ...
and more stitching happened while watching State of Origin.

Essential Sewing
Three pairs of sock savers ... or we call them 'gaters'. Every farmer needs these to keep the spear grass and other muck out of your socks.
These were my test sizes I made up last month. Hubby got a pair, 1 pair for myself, and using up the leftover fabric I managed 2 pair for Grandson J and 1 pair for Grandson P.
Here's P trying his on for size...on the way back from collecting the mail.
With the wintery westerlies blowing in, it will be a good weekend for staying indoors with some sewing and stitching. Stay warm dear friends.

Washcloth Time Again
Doing a lot of sitting at the moment with mum in hospital recovering from a heart valve replacement. A long road ahead but it's onward and upward from here. So I brought 2 balls of wool and knitting needles with me ... knit, purl, knit, purl.
With the first ball I just kept knitting till the end so it's more like a table centre/hot pad. Now the second ball can make 2 dishcloths. The wool is a microfiber so I'm keen to see how it goes. My casting off is a bit tight and practice won't make me perfect.
Time to get back to my black stitcheries soon too...good thing I had April's done.

FNWF Results
Last night there was some sipping (milo), stitching and go for gold moments on the tv. I was working on April tags ... and with a little more done tonight ... almost there.
Thank you Cheryll for hosting a lovely evening. Always gets me motivated.

Changing of the Guard
Over a month has passed since we said our goodbyes to this sweet girl .
* Jayne * 1998 - 2018
Sometimes things are just meant to be. Mid February a chance meeting led to these 2 handsome boys coming to live with us and after a short settling in period, all were getting on amicably.

Claude
I like to think that Jayne knew they would take over the feline duties and it was time to join her sister 💕
Easter was spent with family and now while on school holidays and with the help of the Commonwealth Games on TV, I hope to get April tags for Ruth's Quilt stitched. Here are my March Tags finished on the 1st of April, no...no fooling.
How quickly I lose my mojo once the mainstream work/life balance is in full swing ... maybe my balance is off ... I will need to work on that.

In My Sewing Room
Great weather for ducks and sewing .... A change to weekend plans meant more sewing time Sunday and this was my result.
A Holly Cottage Christmas (Michelle Ridgway) is a finished top ... off to join my growing stash of 'to be quilted' ... love it!
Then time to touch on a UFO so I made a few more 4 patches for my Calendar Quilt.
Earlier in the week I finished February stitches for Ruth's Quilt (Leanne Beasley) and traced off 3 tags ready for March goal.
Today is book work day and that other stuff known as housework ... maybe squeeze in a little stitching if I'm good.
